There's a healthy dose of real time strategy mixed in with the phaser-firing, torpedo-tossing action, so don't expect to be able to whip your ship around and take down your opponent simply by having nimble fingers. You'll need to know your enemy's weaknesses (as well as your own) to take them apart piece by piece. You'll also have your own living, breathing crew. Well, not quite living or breathing, but they'll be as close as you're likely to get on a console.

Managing them will play a crucial part of your strategy. Promoting a navigator, for example, will increase your manoeuvrability while promoting an engineer will improve repair times. Also thrown into the mix for good measure is Multiplayer Mode. Using the DS wi-fi functionality, players can compete head-to-head.
