Vital information and clues are gathered along the way by friendly characters, which help your character progress. Every time you win a battle or successfully complete a task, you will earn experience, giving you points. Earning enough points will make the character 'level up', resulting in making you more powerful. It is also possible for players to upgrade their characters with new and improved items and equipment. All in a day's work for another thrilling entry - albeit a revamped one - in the Final Fantasy series.
